Born in Paris, France Xavier’s family has a strong perfumery heritage spanning seven generations and is from Grasse, France; the fragrance capital of the world. During his childhood, he lived in both the USA and UK as his family relocated to accommodate his father's professional pursuits in perfumery. Xavier graduated with a Master Degree in Business & Economics from the Ecole de Management de Normandie, and as part of his studies worked in marketing for Mane in Hamburg and also as an evaluator for Robertet in Grasse.
After graduation, he was selected to enter the Perfumery School of Roberte in Grasse. He studied with teachers of a high caliber including Jean-François Latty, Jacques Flori and Michel Almairac for two years. As a junior perfumer, Xavier began working for Robertet in Mexico allowing him to gain experience in formulating fragrances for a distinctly different culture. After three years in Latin America, Xavier moved to New Jersey, USA with Robertet where he specialized in natural fragrances in aircare, fine fragrance and personal care. This time with Robertet was dedicated to the creation of 100% natural fragrances for mass and niche brands.
“Being born into a family where perfume is central made me think this was normal, but while growing up, I realized how unique this part of my life was. My sense of smell has always played an important role in my life. When visiting a new city, I would follow my nose instead of a map and see where it would lead me. My « madeleines » (reminiscent scents from childhood) are always very strong and bring me back, not only to a specific time and location, but also to a particular emotion. It is only when I started training in perfumery that I realized how much I loved the world of scents for its artistry, its curiosities and also its secrecy. I see the creation of a perfume as a beautiful way to express myself, to combine the materials in a way that will make them unique and captivating. Perfumery is all about interpreting the surrounding world and recreating the impression with our personal vision or sensibility. This is why I take pride when someone smells my perfume and can understand directly what the theme of the scent is and recognizes the smell. For me, being a perfumer is much more than a day to day job. It means opening up to a whole new world by paying attention to every scent and looking for olfactive beauty in common or basic things. This passion has forged my personality and my sensitivity.”

This experience has allowed Xavier to express his creativity and sensitivity through his composition for perfume brands across the world. Ever since she could remember, scent and smell have played an important part in her life; the scents of flowers, cooking, aromatic Provencal plants, and the perfumes worn by her parents and grandparents. These all awakened a grand curiosity in the world of scent.

Maud completed her education at Montpellier, with a Masters degree in Cosmetics Aromas Perfumes Engineering (ICAP). Her university studies provided a rich training ground where small classes allowed her to evolve in a privileged environment. Maud's dedication and ability led to her graduating top of her class in 2012.
Following graduation, Maud joined Romessence as an assistant perfumer, where her knowledge of raw materials and particularly naturals was enhanced.
